Why do we work on planning problems ?
Planning is a hard problem, at least for computers. Here is the proof. That is why we work on planning (automated planning or AI planning), to overcome the hardness and apply planning techniques in real world problems.
Who uses planning anyway?
Just to give you an example of planning application, here is the NASA's effort, EUROPA.
Want to work with Automated Planning?
Follow this reading list. It is recommended by Carmel Domshalk.
