Research Interests of Bruce Millar
Summary of long-term interests: Understanding the integration of non-contemporary
knowledge sources with representations of the acoustic speech stream in
informational models of speech communication. Understanding the critical
limiting points within existing speech technology and proposing scientifically
motivated solutions.
Current Research Projects: I am currently working on the description of spoken language data that will maximise its multi-disciplinary re-use. This involves consultation via the ARC Human Communication Sciences Network with a range of colleagues.
Opportunities for PhD projects: I am currently referring all applications for PhD study in the first instance to colleagues at either Computer Sciences Laboratory , Information Engineering Department, or National ICT Australia with whom I am happy to co-supervise students into my retirement.
