Summer Students:
IDMA is a new method of digital communication that is very powerful and can approach the Shannon limit. The technique is very good for multiple user communication as is performed in a mobile phone connection from the phone to the basestation. This project will investigate this method and develop a simulation of this system to test and understand the method more clearly. The project will allow the student to understand how an advanced digital modem works and what some of the issues are in digital modem design.

The purpose of this project is to develop an advanced receiver for the IDMA method of digital reception. The approach will be to read the literature before developing a simulation platform in MATLAB to simulate the receiver concept. The student will learn about digital modulation, decoding, and methods of reception of IDMA. The project will provide the student with the opportunity to work with people in the Wireless Signal Processing Program of NICTA/ANU.

The student will work with a number of researchers and will work with other students to perform the task. Familiarity with MATLAB will be a benefit.
