I am currently employed by the Research School of Information Sciences and Engineering, Australian National University
I work in the Systems Engineering Department providing programmer support for robotics projects

Robotics Work

I am currently working on the Questacon Robot Project.
My major contribution is in the area of software support.
Images from this project are available here
As part of this project I have implemented software support for active face tracking, and interactive speech. Papers on these topics were presented at the Australian Conference for Robotics and Automation (ACRA) 2006.

Computer Chess

I have developed a number of computer chess playing programs over the past 20 years. Most of them have gone to the great bit-dump in the sky but a few remain.
As part of my interest in Computer Chess I have organised the Australasian National Computer Chess Championship as a way of bringing computer chess programmers together. For details on past events, as well as information on upcoming events visit the NC3 Hompage

Programming Interests

Python is currently my weapon of choice
Click here for a pile of python programs I have written
I am also working on VPython, a 3D graphics package for Python
Here is a seminar I gave recently on my work in this area.
I have written a few chess playing programs. VChess was my last effort. I am now working on BChess which I've just managed to debug
